چکیده
Abstract Background Cardiovascular diseases have continued to be the leading cause of death globally. In addition, some drugs used in treatment present adverse effects which limit usefulness such drugs. Thus, there is a need for novel whose side effect either minimal or non-existent. The presence bioactive compounds Cola hispida leaf great significance and management cardiovascular conditions. This study investigated cardio-protective potential against doxorubicin (Dox)-induced cardiac infarction rats. Results Dox induction resulted muscle fiber degeneration Dox-treated rats hence revealed significant ( p < 0.05) elevation serum level cardio biomarker enzymes lipid peroxidation profile while fall enzymatic antioxidant levels were observed relative normal control. Pre-treatment with ethyl acetate fraction expressed potentials Dox-induced cardiotoxicity by significantly lowering towards normal, building up activities subdued depleting its malondialdehyde level. Histopathology photomicrograph heart tissues myxomatous but was ameliorated through administration fraction. Conclusion accordance findings from this study, effective redox imbalance due enriched phytoconstituents.
